As a doula, I work with women prenatally, during labor and birth, and in the postpartum period to inform, ease, and empower the great transformation that is birth. When partners are involved, I offer support for him or her too, as partners have their own intense experiences throughout the birthing process.
As babies are born into new life, women and men are born into new roles as parents. Just like one might hire a sherpa to guide their journey up a mountain, doulas are here to accompany you through the twists and turns on the mysterious path to parenthood.
What hopes, fears, and expectations do you have about birth and parenting? Together, we can explore your beliefs, past experiences, support networks, and more. Using creative process, applicable coping techniques, and candid conversation, we will work toward preparing you for birth and parenthood. Of course, that also means preparing for the unknown, because mystery is always present in birth! ☺
I offer birth doula services in hospital/home/birth center and planned cesarean births. Postpartum services can include day and/or night hours. In addition, I also offer Birthing From Within Childbirth Preparation classes (group and private), as well as placenta encapsulation services. Please see my website for more details.
My background: I have been passionately studying birth since 2007, and began practicing as a doula in early 2008. I completed the DONA certification process, and am currently training to be a Birthing From Within Childbirth Mentor/Educator. I worked with the Board of Directors of CCD to found the Doula-Supported Births Scholarship program, and have attended births in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Acholi (a Ugandan tribal language). While traveling internationally to learn midwifery, I discovered that birth is a universal and trustable event.
I will support you in discovering the keys that unlock the doors to your inner knowing. You can do it! A doula can help! ☺
I invite you to contact me for a free consultation. Many blessings on your journey.
