I believe all women and families deserve thoughtful, respectful care during the childbearing year, which includes access to information, mother/baby-friendly care practices, and the full-range of options and choices in childbirth. As a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) mama, I have experienced both a cesarean birth followed by an all natural birth. I wholeheartedly welcome opportunities to work with other mothers who are preparing for a VBAC, knowing full well the challenges involved, as well as the sweet rewards of this experience! My training with DONA (Doulas of North America) and experience with the births of my own two children inform my practice, and perhaps most importantly I bring a deep desire to inform, empower and support mothers and their families in preparing for and enjoying a gratifying birth experience, recognizing every family and every journey is unique.
My skills and services include providing helpful information, resources and referrals to expectant mamas, as well as continuous emotional and physical support during labor, birth, and in the immediate postpartum. A typical arrangement includes: - 2-3 prenatal visits — discuss pregnancy and birth plans/concerns, preparation
- On-going phone/e-mail support for questions/concerns
- Labor and birth support — continuous emotional and physical support
- Postpartum visit to process your birth experience, discuss any breastfeeding support needs, and other post-partum matters you might be interested in such as mother group support resources, bonding with your newborn, baby wearing/carriers etc.
A good way to find a doula who will be a great fit for your needs is to meet/interview, so please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail with questions or to set up a free consultation. Carrie Bluth Supporting Mamas and Families, with Heart, Mind, and Spirit |
