Doula-Supported Births
--A doula for every woman who wants one.

We are excited to share a new and great opportunity with you, our community. The Central Coast Doula Association (CCDA) has received a generous grant from the James Bower Foundation and is in the pilot year of implementing a two-part program to make doula services more accessible. One goal of this project is to educate the community at large about the services and benefits of doulas, with special focus on our Spanish-speaking population. This takes the form of community presentations at local organizations, as well as collaboration with other centers and public resources.

In addition to outreach and education, we are offering scholarships to qualifying families to receive the full services of a doula of their choice. The cost to the family is $50. The family will be able to choose to interview up to three different doulas; a list of participating doulas will be provided upon acceptance into the program. The family will be matched with the doula they feel most comfortable with, and services will proceed from that point. For more information about doula services, see our “What is a doula?” page.

Assess your eligibility according to the following criteria:

  • Total annual household income of $30,000 or less
  • Single mother (parent)
  • Teenage mother
  • Family from at-risk population
  • Full time student
